Impressively good coffee.

Considering myself to be a bit of a coffee nerd, but also relatively impatient means balancing time and effort has always been important to me when it comes to making my favourite drink. We've all seen videos, I'm sure, of people spending an incredible amount of time, money and meticulous attention to craft the perfect cup of coffee. However, my need centres almost entirely around the the importance of good beans and a proper bean-to-cup machine (and not spending thousands on a half-kitchen full of fancy machinery).
I've always scoffed a little bit at pod coffee - thinking it's a bit of a cheat, a bit of a shortcut, not as fresh and not as tasty, however when the opportunity to try the Nespresso Vertuo Pop within the Barista Box set up, it was the perfect opportunity to challenge my own preconceived views.
Initial impressions have been incredibly positive - a well packaged, well designed and well thought through collection of products which compliment one another very well. The machine is well made, well designed and looks in place in any kitchen. The Barista Box takes this up another level through the inclusion of the Aerocino 3, some nifty glass Nespresso mugs and cool spoons, and perhaps most importantly a good number and variety of pods to get you started (imagine getting the machine with nothing to brew??)
In my short experience so far, there are a few pros and cons:
Pros
- Quality of coffee - the taste is varied and delightful
- Design - kit that doesn't look out of place in designer kitchens
- Packaging - well packaged with sustainability in mind
- Consideration of whole experience - how all the products fit together to create the best, out of the box, Nespresso experience
- Ability to create both hot and cold milk-based coffees
Cons
- Noise - is that a jet taking off? No it's just the Vertuo Pop spinning the capsule to create the best possible coffee experience (but, it is loud!)
- Cost of pods - whilst less expensive than I expected, it's still less economical than buying beans
- Understanding how to get best use out of the entire package - a great variety of pods are included, but it takes a lot of research and thinking to really understand how to get the best out of them and create different kinds of drinks
- A lack of included recycling bag for pods - the only way to recycle, is to buy more - sustainable or a bit of a paradox?
I'm thoroughly looking to finding out more about this pack
